News

I know it's been pretty obvious that I haven't been posting much of anything lately. I've let some people down. Blogging has just become something I have to force myself to do, not the loved hobby it once was. So unfortunately I have decided to go on hiatus. No more posts for a while, maybe ever. I'm sorry to everyone who had enjoyed this blog, but I can't continue forcing myself to do this right now.

Blog Tour: Rock Star Trilogy by Mercy Amare

Jaded (Book 1)
Author: Mercy Amare
Genre: Mature YA Contemporary
Summary:
I'm Scarlett Ryan.

Yes, THAT Scarlett Ryan.

I live an extraordinary life: millionaire rock star, owner of exotic cars, pictures of me in every magazine, millions of fans, and a name that is recognized world wide. It's supposed to be my dream come true. But, my life IS a fantasy, and I want real. I want exciting. I want... NORMAL. So, I moved from California to Florida, hoping to obtain some normalcy. Instead I find...

Stephan Montgomery.

He's an arrogant jerk. Seriously, I hate him. I swear if he tells me one more blonde joke, I will punch him... again... Unfortunately I can't stop thinking about him, or his gorgeous green eyes. Trust me, I know that he's bad for me. If only my heart would listen.

I also find out that my parents have kept a LIFE CHANGING secret from me. I need to know the truth.

The harder I strive for normal, the stranger things seem to get.

Jaded Excerpt:
“We have so much chemistry that we're literally smoking,” I smile. “And it's only a matter of time before we erupt.”
He clears his throat. “I'm kind of looking forward to this eruption. Think it will happen any time soon?”
“Stephan,” I swat my hand at his arm gently. “You are so bad.”
“Maybe, but you know you want me.”
“Oh, I do want you, but it's so much more fun to make you wait.” I laugh. “Besides, I'm waiting until we're in love.”
“Augh, the L word again.” He shakes his head, as if he can will the word to go away.
“Why are you so against love?” I ask.
“I'm not against love. I just think that love is a serious word. I have never told a girl that I love her, and I want it to mean something. I want the one and only girl I say it to, to be my wife.”
And right there, I lost my heart... to a boy named Stephan Montgomery.

Faded (Book 2)
Author: Mercy Amare
Genre: Mature YA Contemporary
Summary:
I left Hope – the only place I’ve ever felt at home. So now what? Where do I go from here?

When I left, I didn’t just leave my home. I left my friends, my sisters, and Stephan… I just found them. I can’t lose them now.

I know that I want to do MY music. I need to remember WHY I wanted to play music in the first place. And the only way to get that is by firing my dad, but that may be harder than I thought.

On top of everything, I now have cameras following me around everywhere. Even my own home isn’t safe anymore.

I’ve come to realize that normal will never be an option for me.

Faded Excerpt:
He pulls out a costume. “I could be Iron Man.”
I crinkle my nose. “No way. Thor is way cooler of a superhero.”
“He’s not a superhero. He’s a god. There is a difference,” Stephan quickly replies.
“Whatever. I really don’t care. He’s a mythical creature either way. He can be whoever the fuck I want him to be.” I shake my head.
“What are you going as?” Stephan asks.
“Who cares?” I laugh and decide to quote Mean Girls. “Halloween is the one night a year when girls can dress like a total slut and no other girls can say anything about it.” I pause then say, “I was thinking slutty zombie.”
“I think I’m going to like your costume,” Stephan says quickly. “And I will totally let you bite me.”
Only you could think about sex during the zombie apocalypse,” I joke.
“Well somebody is going to have to repopulate the earth. It’s a rough job, but I think I’m up for the challenge.” He puts his arm around my shoulder and starts walking me to the door. “In fact, we better get started now.”
I remove his arm from around my shoulder. “Right. You get started without me. I’m just going to grab my costume.”

And now for my review of Hated:

I loved this book so sooo much. I loved this entire series. The best from Mercy in my opinion.

Scarlett is one of my favorite characters. To be honest I didn't like her much at the beginning of the series, but she's grown on me. I'm sad to see her story end.

The plot twists! Oh my. I love plot twists and wow were there a lot of them! I was shocked at many of them. Good job Mercy ;)

Scarlett and Stephan's relationship is one of my absolute favorites. They are perfect for each other and I'm so glad they lasted.

I loved that Mercy wrote the last chapter telling what happens to these characters in the future. To many times I'm left with hundreds of questions at the end of the story. This time I only have two.
1. What happened to Mona/Ethan?
2. What about Alec??? He was practically non-existent in that last chapter. I'm so happy to know that there will be a short story featuring him.

So yeah. You need to pick up this series right now.

Blog Tour: The Fab Life by Mercy Amare + Giveaway

It’s the life I was born to live: billionaire’s daughters, living amongst the rich & famous. But my mom kept me a secret from my dad. Until now.

I am so out of my league. Fancy parties, expensive cars, and a private school for the elite… It sounds like a dream. But everything is not as perfect as it seems on the outside. Here, the secrets are dirty, and the lies comes easy.

Welcome to my fab life.

Review

Okay I'm going to keep this short and honest. Really, this wasn't my favorite from Mercy. I liked it, it was alright. I mean I gave it 3 stars on goodreads which is actually pretty good coming from me.

The good: Short, easy to read. Mercy's writing is so fluent. It's definitely a good book to just sit down in read for the day. I like the rich lifestyle portrayed in the book. So yeah I'd recommend it for someone just looking for a quick read. I don't know, add it to a list for a readathon or something.

The bad: so. much. focus. on. sex. Ohmygoodness. Like okay! Teenagers do things other than party and have sex. The book centered around Kihanna's relationships for about 90% of the time. I was so worried at first when almost every new character introduced was a male who happened to have an interest in her. Love triangles are bad enough, we don't need a love hexagon thanks.

Overall: The last 10% is what is keeping me hopeful for book 2. Those last few chapters were a huge game changer for this series.

Otherwise, hearing voices in her head would make her feel schizophrenic.

Mini Excerpts:

Mini Excerpt 1
He breathed into my neck and his palms pushed gently on my hips, working my dress to the floor. I gave myself an inner high five when I remembered luckily this was one of those occasions I had worn my all-matching black lingerie. I shivered from the heat of his breath. My hands traced the muscles wrapping his torso and led down the path over his sculpted abs. There was just enough light for me to make out the vertical characters inked on his stomach. Whoa, that was hot! My hands kept moving and when I reached for his zipper, I stopped.

Mini Excerpt 2
His hand was on my arm, and then he stepped in closer. He put the other hand on my cheek and my body reacted with tingling sparks, snapping through my body when his burning mouth slowly melted into mine. I felt the familiar desire I had pushed down so many times desperately trying to break free inside me. With Finn there were never thoughts, just desire and instinct. He pulled me closer and tighter, holding on to me with everything in his being.

Mini Excerpt 3
He brought both of his hands up to my face. The skin of his palms felt slightly rough, but warm. My eyes locked with his while his thumb softly traced across my lower lip. He leaned down and brushed his lips on mine and lingered, kissing me gently and deeply. I pressed my mouth to his, taking in his tongue and the taste of his mouth. He moved his hands over my body, wrapped his arms around my waist and pulled me close, so I was pressed hard against his body. I was melting into his embrace one inch of skin at a time.

Welcome to the South - where the tea is sweet and the accents are sweeter. This Southern way of life is all Charlie has ever known. It’s not until she loses the only person who pushed her to break free of the Southern Belle mold that she starts living the life she needs and not the life her parents forced on her.

Jhett has lived on the edge for as long as he could remember - constantly teetering back and forth between being a rock star and living a normal life. His rebellious and sometimes arrogant attitude is known to get him into trouble, especially with the girls who hang on his every move.

Her quest for information leads her straight to his old hangout and into arms of Jhett, who suspiciously knows more about her situation than he ever should.

Only a few questions remain - Can you trust someone based on their word alone? And if you make a promise, how far will you go to keep it?

About The Author

Sarah Ashley Jones was raised in San Diego, California, but currently wrangles her husband and four dogs in Clarksville, Tennessee. When she's not writing she works in a pottery studio and comes home covered in paint on a daily basis. She has a slightly unhealthy obsession with cupcakes and chapstick. She is an eternal optimist and can often be found dancing and singing to music at any given time. It's rare to see her not smiling or laughing, but if you do, just bring her a cupcake and it will cheer her up.

Promise Me This is her first novel and is a story that weaseled its way into her heart and wouldn't leave her alone until she typed it up on the computer. She already is hard at work on ideas for her next book and hopes that the

characters never stop coming to her. Her huge imagination was always in overdrive as a child and now she is beyond excited to put it to good use as an adult. She plans to write as long as she has stories that need to be told.

“Is there something on my face?” I asked, mid-wipe.

      “You’ve got a little…frosting…” He

chuckled as he brought his hand up to my cheek and ran the gentle pad of his

thumb over my now parted lips.  He

inspected his work and frowned.  “I don’t

think I got it all…” His voice was a low growl as he leaned in and kissed the

corner of my lips; trailing feathery kisses at a teasingly slow place down to

the center of my bottom lip, before sucking it all the way into his mouth.  He nibbled on it softly while he tangled his

hand into my hair and deepened the kiss. I was leaning into him, craving more

of his touch with each second that passed.

Jhett brought his other hand up to my cheek, cupped my face

with both hands, and broke the kiss.  I

let out an unexpected whimper as he drew my forehead in to his.  “Any more of that, and we won’t make it to

the rest of your birthday presents,” he said between breaths.

I sat back and folded my hands into my lap.  “Well, if we get to do that again as one of them, I’m all about it,” I smirked at him.

My review:

This book was…perfect. Absolutely perfect.

Sarah’s writing style is easy and enjoyable to read. It’s one of those books you could easily sit down and read all day because it flows so well.

The characters are perfect, too. I say that, meaning…they’re human. Of course they have flaws. But you could relate to Charlie, or Jhett, or even Ginger. Charlie is probably one of my favorite main characters ever. Like Jhett says, she’s everything that’s good in life. She’s a character you could look up to.

And Jhett! Wowza! New book crush!! He’s this tough guy with a soft side and..how can you not fall in love with him?!

This is my first New Adult book I’ve read. I’ve got to say…I’m not disappointed. I’m glad this was my first. I hope to read many more NA books in the future. Especially from Sarah! I don’t think I’ve needed a sequel as much as this in my entire life!

I’d definitely recommend this book, which comes out tomorrow, June 17th! You can come back here for the release day post and links :)
